FIFA World Cup 2026, Third Round Asian Qualifier - Australia v Bahrain

(5th September)

The Socceroos will face Bahrain at Robina Stadium this September, marking the first time Australia have played on the Gold Coast in their history. They continue their journey to towards FIFA World Cup 2026ℱ and a sixth consecutive appearance at international football’s showpiece event, being hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Graham Arnold’s side will commence the third phase of qualification off the back of an impressive run of form throughout Round Two, with six consecutive victories to finish atop Group I – scoring 22 goals without conceding.

2024 NAB AFLW Season Brisbane Lions v Kangaroos

(1st September)

Sunday afternoon of the opening week will be the NAB AFLW Grand Final rematch between the Brisbane Lions and North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos at Brighton Homes Arena in Brisbane.

NPL Queensland Grand Finals

(7th September)

Football Queensland is excited to confirm that Suncorp Stadium will again play host to the NPL Queensland and FQPL 1 Men and Women Grand Finals in 2024 following the success of last year’s Grand Finals held at the world-class venue.

The four Grand Final matches will be held on Saturday, 7 September, bringing the 2024 NPL and FQPL 1 seasons to an unmissable conclusion.

Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

(5th September)

The business end of the campaign has arrived in the NRL as clubs scramble to make the top eight and book their ticket to the finals.

Two weeks remain of the regular season, with the Titans joining the Warriors, Rabbitohs, Eels and Tigers as teams eliminated from the race.

The Storm have sealed the minor premiership, while the Panthers, Roosters, Sharks and Bulldogs are fighting for a top four spot.

Meanwhile, the Dragons occupy eighth place on the ladder with a number of clubs still hot on their heels.

Bridge to Brisbane 2024

(8th September)

The annual Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane on 8 September 2024 is Queensland's largest fun run.

This iconic running event includes a 5km and 10km distance with both events finishing at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

The 10km course starts at the southern end of Gateway Bridge and takes runners over the bridge with a descent to the finish. The 5km run starts from Hercules Park, Hamilton and journeys along Kingsford Smith Drive, looping back through Bowen Hills and to the finish line.
