We are on the hunt for Brisbane’s most friendly umpires and referees to join our friendly team.
This role is really popular with university students looking for fun and high paying evening work.

Game nights are Monday – Thursday between 6pm and 9.45pm.

We are currently looking for referees for:

  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Football
  • Volleyball

Pay is $26.66ph as an Assistant Referee or $33.33 as a Lead Referee.

Plus if you would like, you get to play a season for free on one of your other nights, worth $210.

About you:

  • You must be passionate about your sport and have experience playing or refereeing.
  • You must love teaching other people how to play your sport.
  • You must be organised, punctual and extremely reliable.
  • You must be outgoing and able to create an exciting atmosphere at games.
  • You must be friendly and comfortable presenting and talking to groups of people.

Want to help run Brisbane’s largest social sports club?
Our mission at SportUP is to help busy people play sport for fun.
Imagine a role where you get to be in charge of multiple venues with the goal of helping people have as much fun as possible.
The Competition Coordinator will be helping to bring our endorphin releasing social sport back to people’s work weeks.

About You:
You love talking to people! You have been described as approachable, outgoing and fun.
You have a positive attitude and love finding solutions for people.
You have a keen eye for details and a knack for doing the little things right!
You get a kick out of ensuring things run so smoothly that people say ‘wow’.
You have experience in the sports and events industry
You love sport! You have a natural excitement to live and breathe sport with a big smile on your face.
You are available Monday to Thursdays 5pm – 10pm.
Having experience playing with SportUP is a big bonus

We would love to offer you the opportunity to:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Competition Coordinator is expected to provide the ultimate experience for our members across all of our Brisbane competitions.
As a Competition Coordinator you are the nightly face of SportUP for our members.
At the direction of the Operations Manager you will be helping with:

Team Experience
Greet and check in SportUP Members across our Brisbane locations
Get feedback from team captains to help improve our competitions and relay information back to the Operations Manager
Oversee the retention of teams for the next season
Help welcome and bond individual teams together for their season
Assist our SportUP Umpires and Referees with an extra hand where necessary

Management of Competition
Managing equipment inventory from our central hub out to ensure all 13 of our venues are fully stocked eg hand sanitiser, first aid kits etc
Report venue issues to Operations Manager
Support decisions about rain-out’s, defaults, and forfeits
Taking calls on game nights from 6:00PM – 9:45PM Monday – Thursday
Advise the Operations Manager when to send league surveys, rule adaptations, or disciplinary communications

Facilitating the fun
Creating exciting and engaging content for the SportUP Social Media pages
Connect with our SportUP members, and answer any questions they may have while at venues
Taking team photos during week 1 of each new season
Presenting the Champion & Most Social Awards at the end of each season, and taking team photographs with the winning teams
Promote our end of season parties and social events to teams

The role
This role requires you to do about 20% administration and customer service for our members, and about 80% at our league events, facilitating a fun experience.
This role is 12-15 hours per week. You will be required to work between 5pm-10pm Monday-Thursday.
Although you won’t be required to work these hours every night/day week to week. Being available between those times is essential.
You do need to have your own car and drivers licence.

Package details:
$20-30 per hour
Monday – Thursday Hours: 6:00PM -10:00PM

Opportunity to play at any of our competitions when teams are short numbers for games

Must have:
Your own transport for moving equipment boxes around
Legally entitled to work in Australia
Can do, positive attitude

Nice to haves:
First Aid Certificate
Knowledge of a wide range of sports
Events/Marketing/Sales experience
Experience posting stories and photos on social media

About Us:
What started with one friendly game, has grown into Brisbane’s largest social sports club helping 5,738 people play Netball, Basketball, Football (Soccer), Volleyball or Touch Footy in Brisbane.
SportUP is a bit different as you can enter a team or you can join as an individual and meet new mates.
Our aim is to help our players return to work tomorrow less stressed, with a smile on their face and something to look forward to next week.
